Key Vote NO on Cloture Motion for the Motion to Proceed to the USA FREEDOM Act Reauthorization Act, H.R. 6172

FreedomWorks sent the following correspondence to Senate offices this morning.

I just wanted to pass on, for your office’s information, that FreedomWorks has issued a key vote NO against the cloture motion for the motion to proceed to the USA FREEDOM Act Reauthorization Act, H.R. 6172. This notice comes in the form of a joint letter released on Friday by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and FreedomWorks. The text of that joint letter can be found here.

As the joint letter notes, "We would prefer a 45-day extension of the FISA authorities, with the opportunity for positive amendments to H.R. 6172, as proposed by a bipartisan group of Senators. Such an extension would allow Congress to focus on pressing issues raised by the COVID-19 virus, while providing additional time for debate and amendments to H.R. 6172."

FreedomWorks will triple-weight (3x) the vote on the cloture motion for the motion to proceed to the USA FREEDOM Reauthorization Act, H.R. 6172. Our Congressional Scorecard is used to determine eligibility for the FreedomFighter Award, which recognizes Members of the House and Senate who consistently vote to support economic freedom and individual liberty.

Please let me know if you have any further questions on FreedomWorks’ position.
