As one of our over 6.9 million FreedomWorks activists nationwide, I urge you to contact your representative and ask him or her to vote YES on the following amendments to the Student Success Act, H.R. 5. FreedomWorks may score votes for any of the following amendments in its 2015 Congressional Scorecard.
Additional amendments may be added to this list as necessary:
Salmon Amendment – To allow parents to opt their children out of standardized tests, without the schools being punished for lack of participation.
Zeldin Amendment – To allow states to opt out of Common Core or any other standards without being punished by the Education Secretary in any way, including through the use of grants or waivers.
These amendments greatly strengthen the education bill by increasing state and local autonomy and individual choice in education.
Please contact your representative and ask that he or she vote YES on these amendments to the Student Success Act, H.R. 5. FreedomWorks may count votes on these amendments as Key Votes when calculating our Congressional Scorecard for 2015. The scorecard is used to determine eligibility for the FreedomFighter Award, which recognizes Members of Congress who consistently vote to support economic freedom and individual liberty.
