Key Vote Yes on Mack Amendment to H.R. 1262

On behalf of hundreds of thousands of FreedomWorks members nationwide, I urge you to vote “Yes” on the Mack Amendment to HR 1262, the Water Quality Investment Act.  Representative Connie Mack’s (R, FL-14) amendment to this bill would strip out Davis-Bacon prevailing wage provisions that would stifle competition and hurt jobs.

HR 1262 currently applies Davis-Bacon prevailing wage requirements to the State Revolving Fund program.  According to the bill, any projects funded in part or as a whole by the State Revolving Fund would be subject to Davis-Bacon’s prevailing wage provisions.

Davis-Bacon’s pro-organized labor bias circumvents the market and spikes costs.  The Associated Builders and Contractors estimate that Davis-Bacon has increased public construction costs by as much as 38 percent.

We again urge you to vote “Yes” to the Mack Amendment to HR 1262 and will count your vote as a KEY VOTE when calculating the FreedomWorks Economic Freedom Scorecard for 2009. The FreedomWorks Economic Freedom Scorecard is used to determine eligibility for the Jefferson Award, which recognizes members of Congress with voting records that support economic freedom.
