Key Vote

Key Vote YES on T-HUD Appropriations Amendments

As one of our over 6 million FreedomWorks activists nationwide, I urge you to contact your representative and urge him or her to vote YES on the following amendments to the Transportation and Housing & Urban Development (T-HUD) appropriations bill, H.R. 4745. FreedomWorks may score votes for any of the following fiscally conservative amendments in its 2014 Congressional Scorecard.

Additional amendments may be added to this list as necessary:

    • Blackburn Amendment - To reduce funding in the bill by 1 percent across the board
    • Chabot Amendment – To reduce funding for Section 8 housing programs by 10% ($1.9 billion) and transfer savings to the Spending Reduction Account (not adopted, 127-279)
    • Fleming Amendment – To prevent any funding for new cameras to collect and store license plate data. Like the NSA’s digital metadata collection, bulk license plate scan metadata can be used to massively violate the privacy of Americans (adopted, 255-171)
    • Royce Amendment - To prevent Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac from using funds from the Housing Trust Funds to pay housing advocacy groups, which would just use that money to lobby for more housing spending (adopted by voice vote)

FreedomWorks may count their any votes on these amendments as Key Votes when calculating our Economic Freedom Scorecard for 2014. The scorecard is used to determine eligibility for the Freedom Fighter Award, which recognizes Members of Congress who consistently vote to support economic freedom.

    Sincerely,

Matt Kibbe President and CEO, FreedomWorks
