Letter to House: Support Amendments to Continuing Resolution to Repeal ObamaCare
Dear Representative,
On behalf of over a million FreedomWorks members nationwide, I write to urge your support for several amendments to H.R. 1, the Full Year Continuing Appropriation Act.
One of FreedomWorks’ highest priorities is defunding Obamacare, because it will kill jobs, bankrupt the government, drive up everyone’s health insurance costs, put bureaucrats in charge of rationing care, and ruin the world’s best health care system. We believe Republicans retook the House majority in 2010 because of their strong opposition to Obamacare. Polls have consistently shown that a solid majority of Americans want Washington to reverse the government takeover of health care and adopt a patient-centered approach.
Hundreds of amendments have been offered to H.R. 1, the Full Year Continuing Appropriation Act. The following 11 amendments would defund all or some aspect of Obamacare implementation through the remainder of this fiscal year:
Amdt. 119, by Rep. Gohmert, to limit funds under this Act from being used to implement Obamacare.
Amdt. 183, by Rep. Gingrey, to limit funds under this Act from being used to implement Obamacare’s Medicaid expansion.
Amdt. 266, by Rep. King, to limit funds under this or any previous Act from being used to implement Obamacare.
Amdt. 267, by Rep. King, to limit funds under this from being used to implement Obamacare.
Amdt. 268, by Rep. King, to limit funds under this Act from being used to pay officials who implement Obamacare.
Amdt. 269, by Rep. King, to rescind all unobligated balances of funds thus far appropriated for Obamacare.
Amdt. 274, by Rep. McMorris-Rogers, to limit funds under this Act from being used by the IRS to implement Obamacare.
Amdt. 409, by Rep. Price, to limit funds under this Act from being used to enforce HHS’s premium reporting requirements.
Amdt. 553, by Rep. McMorris-Rogers, to limit funds under this Act from being used to enforce the individual and employer mandates.
Amdt. 567, by Rep. Hayworth, to limit funds under this Act from being used to implement the Medicare rationing panel (IPAB).
Amdt. 575, by Rep. Rehberg, to limit funds under this Act from being used to pay officials to implement Obamacare.
We urge you to vote YES on any or all of these amendments, if offered. We may count your vote on one or more of these amendments to H.R. 1, the Full Year Continuing Appropriation Act, as a KEY VOTE when calculating the FreedomWorks Economic Freedom Scorecard for 2011. The Economic Freedom Scorecard is used to determine eligibility for the Jefferson Award, which recognizes members of Congress with voting records that support economic freedom.
