Michigan CSE Mobilizes to Stop Governor Granholm’s Latest Tax Hike Scheme
Armed with misleading figures about Michigan’s budget deficit, Governor Jennifer Granholm’s latest tax-and-spend scheme is a $295 million tobacco tax increase, a potentially devastating, regressive tax that will cost Michigan jobs, particularly in county border areas. Even worse, a provision in Granholm’s plan would reverse current Michigan law that allows the state’s Single Business Tax (SBT) to be reduced as economic times improve.
