Mitchell County Holds January Meeting

BAKERSVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA. On January 11th, FreedomWorks members in Mitchell County met to discuss our plan of attack for 2007. Over 35 people were in attendance. State Director Allen Page updated the group on what to expect from Raleigh with a $1billion shortfall in the state budget. Lawmakers in Raleigh are already looking at raising the cigarette tax again, among other tax increase, and are also considering banning public smoking. Roger Wilson was elected again to head up the Chapter. Also in attendance were County Commissioners Mike Hensley and Jim Saylor (both activists).
