Press Release

Mountain Music, Food, and Limited Government Activism

    09/18/2008

On Saturday, September 7, 2008, North Carolina hosted an event at the Ashford Community Center in North Cove, McDowell County.  The standing room only event of approximately 175 included activists from eight counties!

Activists were greeted by mountain bluegrass music.

Kathy Hartkopf, Legislative Liaison of North Carolina FreedomWorks, served as Master of Ceremonies and opened the event with a welcome.  Mr. Joel Wilson led the invocation and Mrs. Michelle Presnell led the Pledge of Allegiance.

North Carolina House Representative Mitch Gillespie thanked FreedomWorks for the “important work you do” and introduced the Keynote Speaker, Mayor Pat McCrory, candidate for Governor.

Among those in attendance was a gentleman from the Beverly Perdue campaign.  Ms. Perdue is also a candidate for Governor.  The gentleman recorded Mayor McCrory’s remarks!

Activists enjoyed an afternoon of fellowship, food, and information.  A special thank you to the many volunteers who made the day such a tremendous success!

FreedomWorks President Matt Kibbe is fond of saying, “Government goes to those who show up!”  Thank you for showing up to work for “Lower Taxes, Less Government, and More Freedom”!
