    Obama and Boehner: America's Duo-Dictators

    12/08/2012
Democracy and Power 101: Government is Power

The essence of government is power; and power, lodged as it must be in human hands, will ever be liable to abuse.
—James Madison, Speech in the Virginia State Convention of 1829-1830

    Obama and Boehner:  America's Duo-Dictators

President Obama and Speaker Boehner are negotiating hundreds of billions of dollars of tax and spending decisions that will impact every America...and no of us know it.  When the duo-dictators reach an agreement, Boehner, Reid, Pelosi and McConnell will compliantly coerce the members of their respective caucuses to vote for the deal.

Appalled by the secrecy,  Senator Sessions of Alabama asked,  “... Will it just be revealed to us on the eve of Christmas or on the eve of the new calendar year and we will be asked to vote for it like lemmings?”  Ha!  Unfortunately there is a terrible precedent, the "Christmas Eve surprise" is exactly what Senator Reid used to coerce Senator Ben Nelson of Nebraska to pass a critical vote for ObamaCare.

Presently, even without knowing the final agreement, it appears Boehner has votes in the House.  After he “executed” four fiscal conservatives by removing them from important committees, the remainder of the Republicans have vowed to be united.  Additionally, Boehner is preparing his leadership team to coerce the passage. As reported by the New York Times

… while Mr. Boehner has made himself the sole focal point, aides say he has made sure a broad leadership team is behind him. He meets every morning while the House is in session with the full slate of Republican leaders, as well as the committee chairmen who would most likely implement a deal: Representative Paul D. Ryan of Wisconsin, who heads the Budget Committee; Representative Dave Camp of Michigan, who leads the Ways and Means Committee; and Representative Fred Upton of Michigan, who heads the Energy and Commerce Committee.

Obama, Pelosi and Reid will have little resistance to secure the necessary votes for whatever the deal is.  Again, they coerced and bribed numerous Democrats to eke out a victory (from their point of view) for ObamaCare.  Pelosi even coerced many of her members to vote for ObamaCare even when they knew they were likely to be voted out of office.  [Read: Pelosi and  Power]

This is the treacherous state of America.  First, Bush increased spending, Obama spent more and more, and now Boehner has declared war on fiscal restraint.   Our economy is in shambles and the power players are continuing their capricious excesses.  America has gone from the folly of what I call the Conniving Five,  where Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Boehner and McConnell coerced the irresponsible “Fiscal Cliff.”

Now, America has the Duo-Dictators, making enormous decisions without fiscal concern.  Next, America will have a bankruptcy judge.  Wrong; there is no judicial mechanism to cram-down decisions upon America and We the People.  Yes, many American cities are in bankruptcy proceedings, but there is no bankruptcy provision for our nation.  Precariously, the ultimate judge of our nation's demise will be the bond holders of our debt – China, Japan and millions more.  The results will be horrific.

James Madison, one of the most knowledgeable scholars and politicians in history, wisely warned, “Government is power; and power, lodged as it must be in human hands, will ever be liable to abuse.”

Remember the words of George Mason and Samuel Adams:

"That no free government, or the blessing of liberty, can be preserved to any people but by a firm adherence to justice, moderation, temperance, frugality, and virtue, and by frequent recurrence to fundamental principles."
-- George Mason, Virginia Declaration of Rights, Section XV [1776]

"If ever time should come, when vain and aspiring men shall possess the highest seats in Government, our country will stand in need of its experienced patriots to prevent its ruin."
    -- Samuel Adams (1722–1803)

Now is the time for experienced patriots to come together and prevent ruin.

Duo-dictators. That is an apt way of phrasing what we are up against. After "executing" the removal of the actual fiscal conservatives we can expect that no good will come from the final agreement.

I am convinced that the only antidote for this one party elite rule between the Republicans and Democrats is an alliance between Conservatives and Libertarians. It has to be done and the more of you that pick up this message and carry it forth the easier this will be to accomplish. Libertarianism is the ideology of an informed electorate and we need to have a discussion with our brothers and sisters in Liberty the Conservatives. The message I have for Conservatives is that you can get a more moral society by making a harder society that requires more personal responsibility. Example in a Libertarian society you may do as you wish but no one will clean up your mess. Knowing this over time people will become more self reliant and the need for government in our lives will naturally decrease. We have to trust our neighbor more than our government. If you give your neighbor his freedom he will give you yours as well. The alternative is everyone giving more and more power to government because each person will want his/her agenda in the governing arena. This is a downward spiral that the elite of both parties exploit and will result in a totalitarian fascist or communist State of which we are not far from now.

Speaker Boehner is up for re-election to his office in January 2013. He needs 218 votes to get re-elected.

Contact your representative now and urge him/her to vote against Mr. Boehner.

This can be done, it should be done. The man is unfit to serve in this office as he does not represent the traditional views of the Republican party.

What I described above is a LOT easier and faster than trying to get laws passed.

And WHY is this not being screamed by every person alive "http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2012/11/28/Obama-Tax-Hike-On-Ric.... This big tax on the RICH will fund the government for 8 days? Is this idiot made of teflon? Why is this not common knowledge brought up by every house member and repeated every minute. This is insanity of the highest order.

This artificial construct called the fiscal cliff is not the precipice on which we are perched (remember Congress created it when they could not decide how to divide up the bounty of our tax dollars and the unlimited press of the US Treasury). Rather we are on the edge of determining whether the experiment of American democracy can succeed.

When the common man must wake each morning worrying what the Federal Government will do to change his life forever, we are no longer free but simple wards of the state. When the federal government works to break our ties to family and community we are not free but simple wards of the state. When business places more emphasis on lobbying than on product and service innovation we no longer have capitalism but a corrupt economy driven by the state. In short we have totalitarianism.

That anyone believes elections have provided a mandate for federal government action is a farce. Elections are about electing people, most of which were chosen as the lesser of only bad options. In earlier times when we did silly things and our country deviated off track, there was a common morality—the Bible and God—to which we could appeal and the themes there would eventually resonate. Those days are no longer. And while we need to find a new morale authority on which we can collectively appeal, it must not stop us from making some changes to our predicament. The course of our country still only changes because its citizens say “Enough!”

Against such totalitarianism we have only one tool, ourselves. In many respects we have forgotten it in this country but we have been able to see its success around the world against corrupt, dictatorial regimes. We must stand up individually and shout “Enough” and march collectively to change the course of American history. In to the streets, in to the fields, in to the interstate highways, we must march. Peaceful but persistent, energized and enduring.

The patriots and martyrs in this battle will be those individuals that forgo the streams of government money to make a stand on principle placing progeny above their own needs and wants. Having found their way to be successful “legally” in this corrupt system they instead will cut the cord with their only safety net being family, friends and community. They may be individuals, they may be companies heretofore bloated on cronyism. Let the statues be erected to them! Let them be our inspiration!

The fight will be hard and it will be long but there are 3 immediate tangible goals:

    1. Congress must pass immediately and the President must sign into law a measure that leads to government spending at no more than 18% of GDP by 2018. 18% by 2018! And all future budgets should be stable below this level until clear plans are put in place to shrink the federal government even more. No one will starve at this level. It is at the level of what government spending was in 2000. And it is more than enough for the federal government at this point.
    2. Congress must pass immediately and the President must sign into law a measure making Congress—the US Senate and US House—a part-time legislature whose members live in their home districts with limited staff and that convenes 3 times throughout the year for not more than 2 weeks. Let the lobbyists come to mainstreet and bolster the local economies rather than simply the economy of Washington, DC. Most of the work done by this body has been harmful to the country not helpful. With too much money, too much staff and too much lobbying we get incomprehensible legislation like Dodd-Frank that pulls the wool over the eyes of the American people and lets “too big too fail” political patrons continue their thievery.
    3. Congress must pass immediately and the President must sign into law a measure that requires every federal agency to list on the home page of their web site the following information: Budget, number of employees, goals of the agency, performance goals and measurement to those goals. Accountability for the spending of our tax dollars must begin now and this is a small starting point.

Of course much more work will need to be done to restore the balance in favor of the individual in this country. Much will be required to dissolve the federal government back to its core functions of national defense and maintaining a level playing field for interstate commerce. Much will be required to bolster our local governments and state governments. Much will be required to teach us personal responsibility and accountability.

But in this winter of our discontent, these 3 goals are achievable and can lead to our American Spring in which the foundations of our American Democracy are restored and the hard work ahead begins. Peaceful but Persistent, Energized and Enduring.

Regardless of what's stacked against us, we must do what we can, and then some! This site is certainly a good place to start.
