Asheville, N.C. FreedomWorks kicked off its opposition to the proposed  NC "sin tax" increase with organizing meetings.

Members gathered in Asheville and Franklin to begin distributing petitions to the Governor. We oppose the proposed $.20 cent per pack tax increase on cigarettes and $.05 per can tax on beer.  Twenty FreedomWorks activists in Asheville and 15 activists in Franklin heard from state director Allen Page asking them to get ready for this effort that will start next year in the long session.

Also they were asked to contact Congressman Shuler to urge him to increase domestic energy production and also contact the Georgia Senators and ask them to sign Senator DeMint’s letter.
