PA Gubernatorial Candidate Slurs Tea Party Movement

Joe Hoefell, Montgomery County Commissioner, should start expecting a few phone calls.

This past Saturday night (30 January 2010) found Hoefell applying an especially offensive title to members of the nationwide grassroots movement during a gubernatorial debate.

In response to a question about health care, Hoefell began to criticize the Democrats, declaring, “they fooled around and fooled around and now they’ve lost their 60th vote.” Fearing the possibility that Washington Dems have lost “a wonderful opportunity,” he immediately laid blame with grassroots conservatives, to whom he referred with a derogatory sexual innuendo.

The transcript of the entire debate can be viewed here. The relevant portion appears below.

8:27-Hoeffel says “I am really afraid that our colleagues in Washington are about the blow a wonderful opportunity.” Says it started “once those crazy tea-baggers emerged.” The Dems, he says, “fooled around and fooled around and now they’ve lost their 60th vote.”

Hoefell’s remarks, though made in Pennsylvania, constitute flagrant slander against the entire movement across the nation.

Make your voice heard! Get in touch with Joe and demand an apology.
