Patrick Ballantine Signs No New Tax Pledge

GREENSBORO, SC. On September 14, 2004, FreedomWorks/Citizens for a Sound Economy (CSE) activists from across North Carolina met in Greensboro with state Senator Patrick Ballantine, who is a candidate for Governor.

After a rousing address in which he thanked CSE for all it does, Senator Ballantine signed the FreedomWorks/CSE “No New Taxes Pledge” as activists looked on and cheered.

The pledge reads:
“I pledge that in order to keep the burden of taxation in North Carolina no higher than its present level through the year 2008, I Will Not Support New Tax Increases!”

Ballantine’s opponent, incumbent Democrat Mike Easely, has refused to sign this pledge.

North Carolina FreedomWorks/CSE State Director Allen Page commented:

“FreedomWorks/CSE commends Patrick Ballantine for taking a stand against higher taxes, and for putting that promise in writing! We sincerely appreciate the time he took to publicly explain his positions, and we’ll be working hard to let all North Carolina citizens know where all of the candidates stand on these key economic issues.”
