Plymouth Mayor Brian Roth received the Municipal Conservationist of the Year Award

At the Governor’s Conservation Achievement Awards program, Plymouth Mayor Brian Roth received the Municipal Conservationist of the Year Award.  This prestigious honor was among those presented at the North Carolina Wildlife Federation’s Annual Governor’s Awards Banquet.

Mayor Brian Roth was honored for his determined work to “protect sensitive natural resources from damage by the U.S. Navy’s proposed Outlying Landing Field (OLF)”.  For more than six years, the town of Plymouth and the residents of northeastern North Carolina have been battling the Navy in opposition to their preferred placement of the OLF.  More than 100 diverse coalition groups have joined their efforts.

FreedomWorks has been proud to share in this important struggle.  The United States Navy’s proposed Outlying Landing Field represents an egregious violation of personal property rights.

The NO-OLF group has truly embodied the FreedomWorks belief in the strength of grassroots activism and FreedomWorks President Matt Kibbe’s belief that “Government goes to those who show up”.

On behalf of the members of North Carolina FreedomWorks and our 800,000 members across the nation, congratulations and thank you Mayor Roth and the courageous citizens of NO-OLF.
