Radical Left Supports Court Decision to Ban the Pledge in Schools

The Texas Citizens for a Sound Economy is calling on the Texas State Teachers Association PAC to demand their contributions to the Texas Freedom Network be returned. The TSTA PAC is listed on the state ethics reports as contributing thousands of dollars during 2001 to the Texas Freedom Network.

The Texas Freedom Network has endorsed the 9th District Court decision prohibiting recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance in public schools. The Texas Freedom Network said of the decision, “Schoolchildren can now enjoy the religious freedom that the founding fathers intended.”

The 9th Circuit Court’s decision banned the Pledge of Allegiance in the 9 Western states under the court’s jurisdiction.

“The Texas Freedom Network has painted itself in the radical left corner. National leaders from President Bush to Tom Daschle; from Governor Rick Perry to Ron Kirk have denounced the court decision,” said Texas CSE Director Peggy Venable.

“This is an example of the Texas Freedom Network’s extreme radical agenda that does not represent mainstream Texans views.”

The US Senate voted 99-0 today to denounce the decision.

“It appears the Texas Freedom Network is standing alone on an island as Americans rally around the flag, the pledge and our founding fathers vision,” said Venable. “The Texas Freedom Network is finished in Texas – pack your bag and head back to wherever you came from.”

“The Texas Freedom Network needs to get out of the social studies textbook review process. They have lost all credibility,” said Venable.
