Record-High Number of Democrats Vote for ObamaCare Individual Mandate Delay

Twenty-seven Democrats vote to delay the individual mandate, up by nearly a quarter from last year

Washington, DC- A record-high, twenty-seven House Democrats voted yes on H.R. 4118, legislation that would delay the ObamaCare individual mandate for one year. The total number of Democrats voting to delay the mandate is up by five, nearly 25 percent, compared to the same policy vote last year.

“As we predicted, Democrats are beginning to run for political cover as Americans continue to experience the ObamaCare enrollment disaster,” commented Matt Kibbe, President of FreedomWorks. “This is a sign of many things to come in this election cycle. The failures of the big-government Obama Agenda, combined with an anti-incumbent climate nationwide, have created a perfect storm for some change-ups in Congress and the Democrats know it.”

FreedomWorks issued a Key Vote in favor of the bill, which will count when calculating the FreedomWorks Economic Freedom Scorecard for 2014.
