The Second Annual CSE Day at the Capitol

Olympia – On February 19th, over 250 Washington CSE activists converged in Olympia for the Second Annual Washington CSE Day at the Capitol. Following the mantra of “We Want Less,” Washington CSE grassroots activists encouraged legislators to support tax cuts and less government regulation.

CSE’s Vice President Matt Kibbe and Washington CSE Director Gary Strannigan, along with nineteen CSE activists testified in front of the Washington State House Finance Committee as a packed room of CSE activists looked on. Each of the activists urged the committee to support the bill (WA HJM 4008), which encourages support for the Bush Tax Cut plan. Because of the crowd, a second hearing room was opened to accommodate the large number of CSE activists. They watched the hearing on TV Washington.

CSE activists had a total of over 400 interactions with their state legislators. In addition to tax cuts, CSE activists urged their legislators to stay away from price controls for prescription drugs, seek out efficiency and effectiveness in any transportation-funding plan, and to respect property rights through common-sense environmental protection.
