Seven Republicans Vote for Minimum Wage Hike

Seven Republicans on the House Appropriations Committee voted on Tuesday for legislation that would raise the minimum wage from $5.15 to $7.25 per hour. That story here.

Cato Institute chairman William A. Niskanen nicely sums up the consequences of such a move in his post on Cato’s blog. These Republicans voted the wrong way on the minimum wage: John Sweeney (NY), Jim Walsh (NY), Ray LaHood (IL), Jo Ann Emerson (MO), Don Sherwood (PA), Bill Young (FL), and Mike Simpson (ID).
