Support the Lessening Regulatory Costs and Establishing a Federal Regulatory Budget Act, H.R. 575

On behalf of our activist community, I urge you to contact your representative and ask him or her to support the Lessening Regulatory Costs and Establishing a Federal Regulatory Budget Act, H.R. 575. Introduced by Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.), the Lessening Regulatory Costs and Establishing a Federal Regulatory Budget Act would ensure that any new regulatory cost would be balanced by the elimination of an existing regulatory cost.

Our regulatory state has grown out of control. Unelected bureaucrats impose massive burdens on our economy, and stifle growth and innovation with costly regulations. If you were to accumulate the economic losses created by regulations, the costs total about four trillion dollars, more than most global economies. In a world that is rapidly advancing and innovating, we cannot afford to hamstring our nation’s businesses this way.

Rep. Meadows’ legislation is very simple and would hold our federal government to a new standard in which any new regulatory cost would be balanced by the elimination of an existing regulatory cost. It would also require federal agencies to repeal two regulations for any new regulation proposed.
It is crucial that the American people have the freedom of choice within the marketplace and that economic growth is no longer held back by unelected officials creating new regulations in Washington, D.C. This bill would hold agencies accountable by requiring them to submit annual regulatory plans to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). These reports would include new regulation proposals and require the calculation of the economic effects the regulations would have on jobs in the industry.

Legislation like this is crucial in holding unelected bureaucrats accountable, and re-asserting the legislative branch’s proper Article I authority. For these reasons, I urge you to contact your representative and ask him or her to support the Lessening Regulatory Costs and Establishing a Federal Regulatory Budget Act, H.R. 575.

Sincerely,
