Tales from the Trail: Florida CSE Pounds the Pavement to Educate Voters

An Exercise in Activism—Joined by a committed base of activists, Florida CSE has been pounding the pavement in a heightened effort to educate voters on the important differences between the candidates on the issues of Medicare and Social Security, tort reform, education and environmental policy.

Port St. Lucie—Florida CSE’s staff and activists hit a rally for vice presidential candidate Sec. Cheney in Port St. Lucie on November 1, 2000. FL CSE staff and activists distributed 50 yard signs and more than 250 packets of CSE materials and t-shirts to politically active Floridians as they waited to get in to the event.

West Palm Beach—Florida CSE’s presence was also strong at an event for Gov. Bush on November 5, 2000. FL CSE staff and activists handed out stickers and t-shirts to politically active Floridians, urging them to don their CSE wares immediately. As a result, Gov. Bush was exposed to strong support for CSE’s core issues, including Medicare reform, ending lawsuit abuse, and school choice.
