Threats to FCC and Congress Over “Net Neutrality” Are Domestic Terrorism

FreedomWorks continues to condemn the abhorrent, racist, and threatening vitriol being directed at officials over the Restoring Internet Freedom Order proposed by Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Ajit Pai. Today, thankfully, federal prosecutors announced charges against an individual for threatening to kill Congressman John Katko of New York and his family if he did not support so-called "net neutrality."

FCC Chairman Ajit Pai and his family have also been the target of violent and racist harassment, with vitriolic messages left at their home. FreedomWorks previously condemned these threats.

FreedomWorks President Adam Brandon offered the following comments:

"We applaud the work of those tackling the threats against Chairman Pai and Congressman Katko and are thankful they and their families are safe. These individuals are using violence and intimidation to achieve a political end, so let’s call it what it is: domestic terrorism. We all have the right to disagree vehemently over policy, but the extent to which many ‘net neutrality’ supporters have taken this is completely unacceptable. We call on all individuals and groups on both sides of this debate, particularly those on the left who have over-sensationalized this issue, to unequivocally condemn this behavior as domestic terrorism."
