Top 10 Absurd Quotes by Lindsey Graham

    1. On Syria: "The world is literally about to blow up and our president did not really paint a fair picture of the threats we face." Source: Huffington Post.

Senator Lindsey Graham was one of the biggest advocates of U.S. military intervention in Syria last year. FreedomWorks, along with the overwhelming majority of Americans, strongly opposed the Syria strike resolution. It was ultimately never voted on—and the world has not blown up.

    2. “We agree that climate change is real and threatens our economy and national security. That is why we are advocating aggressive reductions in our emissions of the carbon gases that cause climate change.” Source: The New York Times.

This is a direct quote from a New York Times op-ed that Senator Lindsey Graham authored with Democratic Senator John Kerry. Back in 2009, Graham was the only Republican cosponsor on the Cap and Trade bill with Senators Joe Lieberman and John Kerry. Cap and Trade policies would raise energy costs, kill jobs, and increase the national debt.

    3. “I think TARP I was necessary because the whole economy was going to collapse and Bernanke, Paulson, and everybody that I know and quite frankly trust, after Lehman brothers went down, that if we had not involved ourselves quickly you’d have a financial meltdown.” Source: Campaign for Liberty video.

Senator Lindsey Graham voted in favor of the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP). Also known as the $700 billion bank bailout. FreedomWorks strongly opposed TARP during the George W. Bush administration. (Flashback 2008 article: What Would Mises Do?) Simply put, taxpayers should not be hook to pay for the bad decisions of big banks.

    4. “Free speech is a great idea, but we’re in a war.” Source: Real Clear Politics.

Nope. Free speech is a great idea—at all times. Americans don’t really have freedom of speech if the government can take it away during difficult times. These are the crucial times when freedom of speech matters the most. Everyone should be free to criticize the bad actions of government without fear of persecution.

    5. He [Rand Paul]’s saying now that he wants this President to tell him that he will not use a drone to kill an American citizen sitting in a café having a cup of coffee, who is not a combatant. I find the question offensive. As much as I disagree with President Obama, as much as I support past presidents, I do not believe that question deserves an answer.” Source: Mediaite.

Senator Lindsey Graham vocally opposed Senator Rand Paul’s filibuster on drones. Paul said his intention was, “to sound an alarm bell from coast to coast. I wanted everybody to know that our Constitution is precious and that no American should be killed by a drone without first being charged with a crime.” The public response to Paul’s filibuster was overwhelmingly positive. Unfortunately, Graham said that the premise behind the filibuster was “ridiculous.”

    6. “We need to raise taxes to get our nation out of debt.” Source: Face the Nation.

Ugh. That’s the last thing we need. Americans shouldn’t be forced to surrender even more of our hard earned money to the government. How about slashing spending to get our nation out of debt instead?

    7. “NCLB was a historic effort to bring about accountability to our schools and measure achievement and progress of our students.” Source: Graham Press Release.

Senator Lindsey Graham cosponsored and voted for No Child Left Behind (NCLB). FreedomWorks opposed this federal government takeover of education during the George W. Bush administration. NCLB is an expensive law that hasn’t improved education quality.

    8. “I’m going to vote with my party. I just think oil subsidies have to be part of a bigger package.” Source: The Political Guide.

Senator Lindsey Graham voted no on legislation to end oil subsidies. Don’t we already pay enough for gas? Why should taxpayers be forced to subsidize big oil companies?

    9. “I’m a Verizon customer. I don’t mind Verizon turning over records to the government if the government is going to make sure that they try to match up a known terrorist phone with somebody in the United States. I don’t think you’re talking to the terrorists. I know you’re not. I know I’m not. So we don’t have anything to worry about.” Source: Politico.

Senator Lindsey Graham is “glad” that the NSA is intrusively spying on U.S. citizens. FreedomWorks launched a Demand Lindsey Graham’s Password Campaign after his comments in support of the PRISM program. FreedomWorks President Matt Kibbe said, “Respectfully, Senator, we ask you to lead by example and make your email account password available to the American people. If you have nothing to hide, then you have nothing to worry about. Right?” To no one’s surprise, he didn’t cooperate. The truth is that privacy is something that we all value—and something government shouldn’t take away from us.

    10. "And when they say, ‘I want my lawyer,’ you tell them, ‘Shut up. You don’t get a lawyer.'” Source: New York Times.

Senator Lindsey Graham is a strong supporter of the National Defense Authorization Act with the indefinite detention language. The controversial law contains a section that grants the president unlimited power to detain an American citizen without charge or trial. The indefinite definition provision is a clear violation of the Constitution. The Sixth Amendment states that the “accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial” in all criminal prosecutions.

Why is Lindsey Graham ignoring the Constitution?

Let's take point number 2.) “We agree that climate change is real and threatens our economy and national security.

Let me get this straight. You are advocating that we continue to rape mother earth, pollute our ecological system, destroy the ice caps and kill off every living creature on earth to continue to keep a few hundred oil jobs? Continued or further drilling will create more disasters. Please note the number of earthquakes recorded around fracking sites. Please note the filthy water created by these same fracking sites. I don't support ANY Republican candidate for office of any kind, much less Lindsey Graham but it's just plain ignorance to ignore the damage large corporations are doing to our environment and to allow it to continue unabated is criminal.

Now for number 4.) Absolutely!! We have the right, given by God or mankind or the great wizard of Oz. However, in times of war it's the duty of every American, and that includes those media that would leak sensitive information to retain this information and keep it to themselves until the conflict is resolved. Mr. Snowden and others were trusted with sensitive information and if we were not involved in two wars in the middle east I'd say good for him! But he's actually a traitor.

Now let me address number 5.) He [Rand Paul]’s saying now that he wants this President to tell him that he will not use a drone to kill an American citizen sitting in a café having a cup of coffee, who is not a combatant. I find the question offensive. As much as I disagree with President Obama, as much as I support past presidents, I do not believe that question deserves an answer.” Source: Mediaite.

Unfortunately, Graham said that the premise behind the filibuster was “ridiculous.”

Anything from the mouth of Rand Paul can be questioned for validity and whether he stole his commentary from another or not. Rand has the same concepts about war as his father and I applaud him for that. However, if that American is sitting in a coffee shop in Kabul and is helping to plan more attacks on Americans either at home or abroad, and we don't need to put more American lives at risk, then by all means, drop a 500 lb'er on his ass and call it a day. Another terrorist dead. That's all that counts in the end.

The complete stupidity of the commentary on number 6.) “We need to raise taxes to get our nation out of debt.” Source: Face the Nation.

Ugh. That’s the last thing we need. Americans shouldn’t be forced to surrender even more of our hard earned money to the government. How about slashing spending to get our nation out of debt instead?

Please understand that unless you are one of the 1% that is hoarding 90% of the nation's wealth then this is ignorance of what is destroying the American dream for millions. The Koch brothers, the Waltons, the McDonalds franchise, Hobby Lobby and others are racking in billions and are worth billions and are spending millions upon more millions to affirm that they continue to rack in billions. Simple. They pay our legislators "campaign money" to make sure the laws their PACs write are pushed through. They pay less money, actual money not percentages, for income taxes than their lowest paid employees. They send that money to offshore accounts that can't be traced.

And now for number 8.) “I’m going to vote with my party. I just think oil subsidies have to be part of a bigger package.” Source: The Political Guide.

Senator Lindsey Graham voted no on legislation to end oil subsidies. Don’t we already pay enough for gas? Why should taxpayers be forced to subsidize big oil companies?

I agree, Oil subsidies must go but remember, they are profit oriented corporations making billions. Take away a few million and the price of fuel will skyrocket. However we DO need to get regulations in place to slow this rise in gas prices.

In 2008, American Spectator named Lindsey Graham Worst Republican Senator. He's only doubled down since then! http://spectator.org/articles/43617/worst-republican-senator

Here's the kind of Senator we need, as seen here on the SC Senate floor, fighting for unborn babies, and fighting the use of tax dollars to pay for abortions!

Graham is nothing but a tool for the liberal establishment. He was actually caught plotting with Kerry & the Obama administration to lobby Boehner & Republicans!! It's time we Fire Graham and replace him with a real conservative!!

Luckily we have a great challenger, Lee Bright. State Sen Bright has a solid 100% voting record, he has proven He is willing to stand up to big government establishment in both parties. We need him in DC to join Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, and others to fight the liberal agenda!! www.BrightForSenate.com

I'm in for Lee Bright. People that want to judge him on losing a business need to close their mouths. I just closed my café here in Columbia, SC. It will humble you greatly. Lots of lessons learned and I still have 2 other successful restaurants. You can take all the business classes you want, you will learn nothing until you hit the real world and take the leap to put everything on the line. It proves to me Bright understands how government can stand in the way of being successful.
Bright's Constitutional Conservative record speaks for its self. I have nothing against the other candidates, but Mr. Bright seems to have the record, experience and cojones to beat Lindsey. Brightforsenate.com

SC Senator Lee Bright has a 100% Club for Growth Score, and has a proven conservative rating in the SC Senate, and best candidate to replace Flimsy Lindsey. He lost his trucking business due to government regulations and diesel prices, as tons of other small business owners have. He will fight for SC businesses, so we can grow our economy. http://www.scclubforgrowth.org/scorecards

Here's a wonderful Graham quote "Any American Citizen who aides Al-Qeada can expect, death, imprisonment, we're going to question you, and when they ask for a lawyer tell them Shut up just shut up.

Guess who is and has aided Al-Qeada in Libya and Syria? If you guessed Graham, McCain and the Obama Admin you guessed right! So what should his punishment be? We have a holocaust on Christians in Syria and other countries, truly horrific stuff going and and silence from major media and our pulpits! Just remember Matt 25.
Restore Honor Vote for Bill Connor! Bill would know better than to support Al-Qeada, or Sharia Law as Graham did in Egypt when he and McCain went in support of Morsi who threw out their constitution and didn't go with any referendum they wanted, all to implement Sharia Law, and 33 million Egyptians took the streets to oppose that.

Lee Bright is NOT the answer South Carolina needs. Literally, he's made zero progress in the state. His claim of being a conservative was discredited when it came out he's more than $1.5 million in personal debt to 29 different creditors, NOT the way a fiscal conservative conducts his personal finances. If he can't be trusted to spend his own money wisely, how could we trust him to spend ours any better? Avoid Lee not-so Bright like the plague.
