Tort Reforms Save Consumers Money

The Houston Chronicle published an op-ed co-authored by C. Boyden Gray, CSE Chairmen, and JV Schwan, Deputy Director and Counsel to Civil Justice Reform, on August 21st entitled “Hard to Argue with Bush on Record of Tort Reform,” highlighting tort reforms enacted by the Texas legislature and signed by Governor W. Bush in 1995.

As our study entitled “The Impact of Judicial Reforms on Economic Activity in Texas,” concludes these reforms have provided the typical Texas household with $860 in additional personal income; generated yearly cost savings of $216 in reduced inflation; and improved job prospects by creating almost 200,000 new jobs.
