Chad Cowan of Citizens For A Sound Economy, 202-942-7692

News advisory:

Continuing his efforts to offer support for Social Security reform, Citizens for a Sound Economy’s “Uncle Sam” is traveling to San Diego and will lead a rally outside of the Marriott Marina where the President’s Commission is meeting.

Appearing at the previous commission meeting in Washington, DC, “Uncle Sam” led dozens of people in a rally to show support for personal retirement accounts (PRAs), which would give working Americans ownership over their retirement future.

“Uncle Sam” will lead the rally outside the hotel the Commission is meeting in. Several activists are expected to join Uncle Sam to show their support for PRAs.

Who: CSE’s Uncle Sam and concerned citizens

What: Rally in support of personal retirement accounts

When: Sept. 6 at 12:30 p.m.

Where: Marriott San Diego Marina Hotel, San Diego, CA

Uncle Sam is following the Commission around the country as part of CSE’s “Own Your Future” tour, which formally kicks off on September 17 in Sarasota, Florida. The cornerstone of the tour will be several “town hall” style forums at which members of Congress and members of the President’s Commission will attend to participate in an interactive discussion on the future of Social Security.
