Voters in Pasadena have an opportunity to defeat a new tax hike scheme on the ballot on February 5th. This proposal, called Measure D, is bad for taxpayers and consumers in Pasadena.

The politicians in Pasadena want to tax the communications products you have come to depend on like text messaging and the internet. These types of communications were not previously taxable, which is why the tax-hungry politicians want to find new ways to grab money from your wallet.

The ballot initiative is described by its proponents as a modernization of an existing tax. This is misleading because the proposal would reinstate a tax that has been invalidated by the elimination of the federal excise tax. Local governments have directed carriers to continue to collect this tax from California consumers.

Taxpayers in Pasadena have a chance to defeat this new tax scheme, but it will take good old-fashioned shoe leather politics. To join the on-the-ground campaign against Measure D visit our website and sign up! The unions and politicians will be out in full force to support the tax hike, and freedom advocates must come out strong to defeat it.
