Wake County CSE Holds Chapter Meeting

On Thursday, June 5, the Wake County CSE chapter held their monthly club meeting with Wake County Manager David Cooke and County Commissioners Tony Gurley and Joe Bryan. Activists discussed the proposed county plan of increasing county property taxes 7%. The County stated that more money is needed for public schools, health care, employee pay raises and public safety measures. People in attendance stated that now is not the right time to increase taxes and therefore, the county should wait until the economy rebounds.

As of June 9, The Wake County Commissioners voted 4-3 to look at an alternative budget that wouldn’t raise taxes. The Commissioners will meet for a vote on Monday, June 16 to vote on either on the budget with no tax increase or the budget with the 7% tax increase.
