The Weekly Fix: Democrats Hate Fake News. Except When They Do It.

The fix is in. Democrats hate fake news, unless it’s created to elect congressional Democrats.

In the latest incident of progressive hypocrisy, the Missouri Democratic Party created a fake news website to hype Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) and spread negative propaganda about her political enemies, mainly her Republican Party challenger Josh Hawley.

The fake website is called “The Missouri Download,” and it has published about 25 blog posts with titles including: “Republicans Pan Josh Hawley for Lackadaisical Campaign,” and “Local Veterans and Military Families Turn Out for McCaskill.”

The content of the blog posts read as if they could be press releases directly from the McCaskill campaign. They could not possibly be more biased and less researched. There is no contact information for the person writing the posts, so it’s clear the Missouri Democrats want the website to remain as anonymous as possible.

In fact, the Missouri Democratic Party appears to be actively hiding its affiliation with the fake news site. The Party officials don’t even follow the website’s Twitter account.

According to the Washington Free Beacon:

The party appears to be hiding its involvement in the site as best it can while staying within legal parameters. The launch of Missouri Download was not announced by the Missouri Democrats and is yet to be mentioned on its main website or its Twitter account. There is a minuscule disclosure of the party’s involvement on the bottom of the page, written in size 5.5 font, and contained in a box about a quarter of the size of the disclosure box on the party’s actual home page.

This is not the first time Democrats have attempted to create a fake news website to manufacture their own political narrative. Florida candidate Kristen Rosen Gonzalez created a fake news site to manufacture positive press surrounding her congressional campaign. The site’s misleading motto read: “News and views from your Congressional District."

Democrats have a long history of changing their values to suit the political needs of the moment. To them, the ends always justify the means.

Sen. McCaskill currently has a 15% lifetime score on the FreedomWorks Congressional Scorecard. It’s no wonder her political campaign needs all the positive press it can get.

It’s time to take a stand. The American people aren’t being heard by their representatives because the game is rigged. Government isn’t broken. It’s “fixed.”
