The fix is in.
Senate Judiciary Committee member Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) claims to be a dedicated fighter for justice, and a voice for the voiceless. However, her records as San Francisco district attorney and California attorney general tell a very different story.
As San Francisco district attorney, Harris was reprimanded for failing to turn over critical information to the defense.
In 2015, a judge removed the entire Orange County district attorney's office from a high-profile death penalty trial after prosecutors repeatedly failed to turn over critical evidence to the defense, and placed the defendant in a cell directly next to a jailhouse informant. To give the D.A.’s office a free pass, then-Attorney General Harris appealed the decision.
According to Reason, the same jailhouse informant operation went on to influence and corrupt “more than a dozen criminal cases, including several murder trials.”
A.G. Harris also appealed the dismissal of a child molestation case after a California State prosecutor made up a fake interview transcript that included a confession by the defendant. Of course, the confession never actually happened.
After a prosecutor lied to the jury about an informant being compensated to testify, Harris protected the conviction by opposing the defendant’s appeal. After widespread outcry in the legal community, she dropped the opposition shortly after announcing her run for U.S. Senate.
Senator Harris can write tweets and press releases about criminal justice reform, but when it counted, she cared more about her office’s conviction record than justice.
It’s time to take a stand. The American people aren’t being heard by their representatives because the game is rigged. Government isn’t broken. It’s “fixed.”
