Huckabee's "hope" is a "nope"

Here's an op-ed I published in my school's newspaper yesterday. ----- It all began in a place called Hope. No, I'm not referring to that classic line by a certain incorrigible former president; rather, a guy who really wants Clinton's old gig. Mike Huckabee was born and raised in the same small burg - Hope, Arkansas - as our beloved William Jefferson Clinton, albeit after Bill left town. Like the former President, Mike's got that Arkansas drawl, an innate charm and a rapier wit. The similarities don't end there.

My caucus night in Iowa: a diary

Last night, I showed up at East High School in Sioux City, Iowa for the Republican caucuses with Milton Friedman's book "Free to Choose" under my arm. I was excited to be attending my second caucus. We filed into the gymnasium with our blue paper ballots and heard a few words from representatives of the candidates. They were supposed to speak for two minutes, but each went on for at least four.

More on Huckabee

Today, the Drudge Report linked a short YouTube clip of ultraliberal Susan Estrich discussing the Democrats' view of a Huckabee nomination. Huckabee could win tomorrow. Huckabee is the Democrats' dream...If the Republicans nominate Huckabee, honey, I'm dancing at the inaugural ball. It's a bad sign when the other party approves of your frontrunner.

Tonight's the night

Tonight is a very important night. Not only will the endless TV and radio commercials finally stop, but I get to caucus! I'll show up early to East High School in Sioux City- still undecided- to join in the democratic process. I'll let the campaign members try to convince me. If they don't, I'm caucusing for Milton Friedman. Like Peter said in a previous post, victories for either Huckabee or Edwards would be disastrous.
