2020 Democrats Have All the Wrong Ideas for the Budget

BY Adam Brandon

It’s no secret that the two dozen or so 2020 Democratic presidential candidates are promising a slew of new and expanded government programs that are often “universal” and “free.” Americans should be skeptical when they hear these buzzwords, which are code for “rationed” and “expensive” when Democratic presidential candidates talk about "Medicare for all," the so-called Green New Deal, and free college.

Support Bills to Defund the National Public Radio and the Corporation for Public Broadcast, H.R. 3392 and H.R. 3393

On behalf of our activist community, I urge you to contact your representative and ask him or her to cosponsor the bills to defund the National Public Radio (NPR) and the Corporation for Public Broadcast (CPB), H.R. 3392 and H.R. 3393 respectively, both sponsored by Rep. Doug Lamborn (R-Colo.). Put simply, it is not the role of the federal government to be funding the arts including news outlets or entertainment sources such as NPR and CPB.

Make Congress Actually Do Their Job and Vote

BY Jason Pye

Article I, Section 5 of the Constitution states that “a majority of each shall constitute a quorum to do business,” but if you were to tune into C-SPAN during the first day or two of a weekly session in the House, you will likely see an almost-empty chamber, with only a handful of members from both parties debating or otherwise discussing pending legislative business. Although a quorum of members isn’t present, legislation is frequently passed by a voice vote.

FreedomWorks’ Member of the Month for June 2019: Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas)

FreedomWorks is proud to honor Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) as the member of the month for June 2019. He serves in the House of Representatives to represent Texas’ 21st Congressional District, which spans to the north and west of Austin, Texas. But in reality, Rep. Roy serves not only to represent his constituents but also to better the lives of all Americans by exposing and fighting against the status quo Washington ways that have put us $22 trillion in debt and left us more burdened by government than our founding fathers ever could have imagined.

Key Vote NO on the Senate Amendment to the Supplemental Appropriations Act, H.R. 2157

On behalf of FreedomWorks’ activist community, I urge you to contact your representative and ask him or her to vote NO on the Senate Amendment to the Supplemental Appropriations Act, H.R. 2157. This amendment would provide for more than $19 billion in funds for disaster relief for wildfires, hurricanes, and flooding, as well as for Puerto Rico, without any offsets for the new spending.
