DC Rolling Protest: Truckers Demand to be Heard

Beltway traffic is never fun to navigate, but starting Friday, it might be getting a whole lot worse. People around the country are getting increasingly upset with our government, which doesn't appear to be listening. With Washington continuing to spiral out of control, people are finding new ways to protest that can’t be ignored.

Who Will Declare War on Syria?

Personal Freedom and Prosperity 110: The Rule of LawA government with moral and legal authority promulgates written rules and universally, impartially and uniformly enforces the rules, which provides a predictable and stable legal order on which to base economic and personal decisions. The law prevails, not the proclamation or arbitrary decision of a ruler, government bureaucrat, enforcer (e.g., policeman) or judge

House to Vote on Fourth Amendment Today; Outcome in Doubt

The House is expected to vote today on the Fourth Amendment. The outcome is in doubt. How far we've drifted from the letter of the Constitution and the spirit of liberty!

States Move to Nullify ObamaCare

Americans were told they would love ObamaCare once they read it, but that’s far from the reaction that Democrats (who pushed the law through over solid Republican opposition) are getting. Even former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is aggressively back peddling on this legislative failure.

Supreme Court Upholds Unconstitutional Law Allowing Police to Take DNA Samples Without Warrant

Monday was a bad day for the Fourth Amendment. The Supreme Court ruled in Maryland v. King, by a vote of 5-4, that it is constitutional for police to take DNA swabs of felony arrestees--who have not yet been convicted of anything--without a warrant. Yikes. All freedom lovers should be disappointed in the SCOTUS’ wrong decision: it’s a violation of our individual liberty and just downright creepy.

Letter in Support of the Fourth Amendment Preservation and Protection Act of 2013

Dear FreedomWorks member,  As one of our millions of FreedomWorks members nationwide, I urge you to contact your Senators and urge them to cosponsor S. 1037, the Fourth Amendment Preservation and Protection Act of 2013. Introduced by Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), the bill would extend Fourth Amendment guarantees to electronic communications. The Fourth Amendment Preservation and Protection Act is needed to protect against the violations of our Fourth Amendment rights online.

Dick Durbin Questions The Wisdom Of The First Amendment

While many Americans were recognizing the solemn events of the Memorial Day Weekend, the inside the beltway Sunday news shows rolled inexorably on. One US Senator used the opportunity to call question the wisdom of one of the most sacred of all liberties that are protected by the Constitution. In a poorly timed attack on the freedoms that the soldiers we honored fought and died for, Dick Durbin questioned the First Amendment protections enjoyed by bloggers and users of social media:

Obama's Recess Appointment Smackdown

Last year, during a recess while Congress was still in session, President Obama appointed three members to the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). While it is Constitutional for a President to make recess appointments during a inter-cession recess, these appointments were made during a intra-session recess. It may sound like a minor detail, but it's not. These appointments to the NRLB, which enforce employee and employer rights, don’t fall under that category. Whoops.

Selective Rights

The Obama administration decided to pick a handful of fights that put our Bill of Rights at the center of the discussion. While I'm no fan of their liberty-crushing agenda, I'm always happy to have a discussion over the virtues of our founding documents and the rights they protect. There's one part of this discussion though, that needs to be addressed. There's a blanket argument bouncing its way around lefty spheres that goes something like this:
