Oregon Sales Tax on the Horizon?

Discussion between Republicans and Democrats alike in the legislature has hinted at the return of a bill that will impose new taxes on the citizens of Oregon. The bill includes a provision to create a 5% broad-based sales tax on goods and services totaling over $700 million in new taxes.

Originally introduced in February, the sales tax bill continues to gain momentum in the legislature and a hearing is expected before the legislative session adjourns in July. However, Oregon CSE Director Russ Walker remains confident that the bill will be defeated with the support of Oregon CSE activists.

We will keep you updated on this important issue as it develops and give you an opportunity to take action to prevent the creation of a sales tax in Oregon.
