Civil Asset Forfeiture Is Inconsistent with Economic Freedom

There is no more a basic and fundamental human freedom than the right to property. The right to own and trade property is the basis of capitalism, an economic system that has lifted billions of people out of poverty. But big government policies, such as eminent domain and civil asset forfeiture, are undermining economic freedom in the United States, according to a recent study from the Fraser Institute.

The Myth of Free-Market Healthcare

Anyone who tries to tell you that the free market was the reason why nearly 15% of Americans were uninsured in 2008 is misleading you. The notion that a lack of regulations caused this disparity in coverage relies on the assumption that health insurance was a free market industry prior to the passing of the Affordable Care Act, which is simply not true. Here, I will explain just a few of the state-level health care regulations that led to 14.8% of Americans being uninsured just before the Affordable Care Act was passed.

House Democrat who worries about Guam tipping over doubts regulations hurt the economy

Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA) has a history of making peculiar remarks that have often become the butt of jokes on talk radio. In a 2010 committee hearing, for example, he expressed his "fear" that Guam would "tip over and capsize" due to overpopulation. In April 2013, while the lower chamber was debating the Helium Stewardship Act, he told his colleagues to "[i]magine...a world without balloons."

America Ranks Lower in Economic Freedom, Again

There was a time when America was the land of opportunity. The shining city on a hill in which anyone could succeed. Those were the days when America was an exemplary specimen of the free market. Unfortunately, it would appear, those days are gone. In fact, economic freedom is in decline around the world, not just in America.

Hate Chicken

Ever since the Chick-fil-A President Cathy voiced his opinion in favor of the tradional view of marriage, politicians have been stumbling over themselves to threaten to discriminate against the Chick-fil-A company on the basis of the free expression of one of its executives.

Undeniable Failure: The Progressive Movement

The spread of progressive ideology has plagued this great nation from the time Theodore Roosevelt had introduced progressivism in its rawest form to the United States. Progressive derives from the root word; progress, meaning to drive forward and ever-changing. To apply the word in political context it means to, fundamentally change the norm and past policies. As a general rule a Roosevelt progressive and a current progressive are unchanged. They strive to achieve the same goal and that is to transform and revolutionize the constitution, creating a living breathing entity.
