New Jersey Voters Favor Drilling

Here's an interesting article from the Philadelphia Inquirer about oil off the New Jersey shore.  The article talks about the new technology we have to pinpoint oil, making it a more exact science than ever and about the billions of barrels just off our own coasts.

Wednesday Floor Update

FreedomWorks popped in to hear the speeches that are still going on over on the House floor today, the dogged determination to see this issue through is amazing.  Here's what we heard: Rep. Michael Ferguson (NJ): urged Americans to call the switchboard, (202) 224-3121. to speak to their Congressperson and demand a vote.  He said that people should "raise their voice and act, regardless of opinion." Rep.

A Gas Price Story from Outside the Bubble

It's easy to forget how real people live and what they care about outside the DC bubble - this is such an unnatural city, growing up around government and not industry, transportation, or any kind of port like most cities historically are. On the floor, one conservative congressperson after another had been able to hold up their constituent mail full of sad stories of lost jobs, and opportunities on hold due to skyrocketing energy costs. Here's how fuel prices are affecting one person close to FreedomWorks. My brother, Davis - 17, is a drum major for the Williamsport Area High School

Read the website: No new energy taxes

NTU really hits the nail on the head with their new project: www.nonewenergytaxes.com. That really sums up so much of the gas prices, cap-and-trade, regulations, and carbon arguments - whether it be fee levied on energy producers, unrealistic mandates like CAFE standards and biofuels, or subsidies dealt out to favored industries and technology - it all adds up to a big tax on our economy and higher prices for everything.

What Legacy?

I'm in the American Spectator this morning with a piece speculating on the motivations behind Bush's global warming speech yesterday. One thing I didn't note was that McCain's people are probably frustrated by this. While Bush didn't go all the way in endorsing cap and trade, as McCain has, he did substantially moderate his position on the issue, meaning it will be even tougher for McCain to differentiate himself from the current administration.

Bush's War (on Warming)

Monday's Washington Times had a story indicating that President Bush would give a major speech on global warming today -- and that it would likely include a significant shift in climate change policy.
