FreedomWorks Calls on Harry Reid to Bring up Audit the Fed Bill

FreedomWorks calls on Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to bring up the bill to audit the Federal Reserve. The House of Representatives passed The Federal Reserve Transparency Act (H.R. 24) with a vote of 333-92. The same bill to Audit the Fed passed in 2012 but was never brought up in the Senate. Now, FreedomWorks is calling on the Senate to bring the bill up for a vote, especially considering Senator Reid’s strong support for an audit of the Federal Reserve in the past.

Amending the First Amendment

Slowly making its way through the Senate without too much notice is a joint resolution (S.J.Res. 19), sponsored by Tom Udall and enjoying the vocal support of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, that would rewrite the founding document of our country in ways never before imagined.

As Economy Stalls, Democrats Remain Out Of Touch With Voters

Economists are now reporting what we all know already - America's economic growth has ground to a halt. Wednesday's report from the Commerce Department was bleak. The expected growth in GDP was 1.1%, but the Commerce Department is now reporting a rate of growth of only 0.1%. This has been felt for a long time by average Americans. According to a Gallup poll, economic problems dominate in the question of the most important problem facing the nation today. This makes the priorities championed by Democrats all the more puzzling. As we struggle to sustain an economic recovery that has been charitably described as "choppy", Democrats continue to push an agenda that is out of touch and fails to solve the underlying problems.

The Dictatorial Senate

Back in November, when Harry Reid’s employed the nuclear option to allow judicial nominees to be confirmed with a simple majority vote, commentators on both sides of the political spectrum had plenty to say about the move. On the right, Reid was criticized for single-handedly uprooting years of Senate tradition and for robbing the minority party of their right to debate. On the left, Reid’s actions were praised as greasing the wheels of government to actually get things accomplished in the face of intractable Republican opposition. Supporters of Reid appealed to a sense of Democracy, arguing that majority should rule and that the sixty-vote threshold is an arcane relic of a different time.
