John Stossel Tells South Florida Crowd: “Freedom Works!”
FreedomWorks sponsored an event with John Stossel of ABC news show “20/20” on March 29th in Boca Raton, Florida and 275 people showed to hear John Stossel’s presentation entitled “Freedom and its Enemies”. John Stossel is currently the co-anchor of ABC News weekly news magazine “20/20”. Early in John’s career, he believed that government was the best defense against greedy wrongdoers. But after repeatedly witnessing our economic and political leaders expensive, ineffectual solutions firsthand, John Stossel had an epiphany: free markets are actually the consumer’s best friend. In his weekly segment as well as his recent book “Give me a Break”, John Stossel reveals the powerful benefits of free markets, using his engaging, thought-provoking arguments that resonate with many who agree that America is deteriorating into a big government, high tax, excessively regulated, litigation-happy society.
Florida State Director John Hallman commented “we are very excited to have somebody of John Stossel’s stature in the media come and speak to us on the harm and expense of big government. John’s style of presenting the argument against big government really resonated with the 275 people in attendence”. John Stossel spoke on many issues, but the two that seemed to hit home with everybody was when he spoke about the freedom of letting people own their retirement with Social Security Personal Retirement Accounts and not depending on government for their retirement, as well as the fear of frivoulous lawsuits that drive up the costs of health care and the products we buy. As John Stossel pointed out several times during his presentation that “Freedom Works”. The event was a huge success, and people lined up out the doors after the presentation to meet John Stossel and get his book “Give me a Break” autographed.
