FreedomWorks Launches Northeast Florida Chapter

ST. AUGUSTINE. FreedomWorks Florida State Director John Hallman announced today that Florida FreedomWorks kicked off the Northeast Florida Chapter this week. John Hallman traveled to St. Augustine to address two groups and an appearance on a local radio talk show. Local FreedomWorks member Jerry Cameron will serve as the Volunteer Chapter Leader for the new chapter, which will cover the northeast region of Florida including St. Augustine, Jacksonville and several surrounding communities.

On May 10th, John Hallman spoke to the St. Johns Libertarian Party meeting of which Jerry Cameron serves as the county chairman. John briefed the audience on FreedomWorks goals and objectives for the 109th Congress and how individuals can become involved with FreedomWorks. Jerry Cameron finished the evening by saying that “freedom works only if we as citizens are willing to be active participants in the political process and joining FreedomWorks is the first step”.

The next morning John Hallman and Jerry Cameron appeared in studio at WFOY 1240 AM on the Kerry McCarthy talk show. John and Jerry talked about the new FreedomWorks chapter and what issues FreedomWorks will be working on, such as Asbestos legislation, Social Security reform and tax code reform. Then it was on the community of Hastings, where John Hallman spoke to the local Rotary club.

John Hallman commented “I am very excited to see the level of interest of people in this area to be active in FreedomWorks and we are fortunate to have somebody like Jerry Cameron take a leadership position for FreedomWorks. Jerry resides in St. Augustine with his wife Daphne and their two daughters, Kristi and Christina. Jerry has 17 years of experience in law enforcement, including 11 years as Chief of Police in two different communities. Jerry has been very involved in politics, serving as the chairman of the St. Johns Libertarian party and in the past as Vice-President of the Greater St. Augustine Republican Club. Jerry was also a candidate for Florida House district 20 in 2004.

Jerry has been a member of FreedomWorks for the last three years and attended the last two years “Day at the Capital” lobbying trips with FreedomWorks. Jerry has already been recruiting new members and made a district office visit to Congressman Dan Mica on Asbestos legislation. Florida FreedomWorks State Director John Hallman commented ” Jerry is going to be a great asset to Florida FreedomWorks and I look forward to working with him and building the Northeast Chapter”.
