Colorado Ref C Fact of the Day #15 from NTU and CUT

In advocating more government spending, supporters of Referendum C often claim that there is simply no fat to cut in the state budget, so taxpayers need to give up their refunds for the next five years. This is simply not true. A recent report on government waste* points out that between 2001 and 2006, the state gave more than $1.4 million to wealthy cities like Vail and Telluride for various art projects. Over the same time period, the state also gave nearly $62 million to companies including Kodak, Adam Aircraft, and Red Robin restaurants. Before taking more money from Coloradans, shouldn’t the state stop wasting it?
