PUT THE BRAKES ON OLYMPIA’S SPENDING SPREE

In 2005, Governor Gregoire and the state legislature overturned the state spending limit. Then, they increased state spending by 12%. At the same time, they raised your taxes by $480 million without a supermajority or your vote. Now, in 2006 the state has a surplus of $1.4 billion dollars and the bureaucrats in Olympia are quibbling over how much to spend and how much to save.

We need to change this debate to include the option of giving the surplus money back to you, hardworking taxpayers that earned it. The only way to keep bureaucrats from spending your money on unsustainable projects is to take away the option. The politicians need to be reminded that every dollar of the $1.4 billion surplus was taken from our hardworking, taxpaying families and businesses. We want our money back.

The budget debate is just beginning. Special interest groups are already flocking to Olympia asking for expanded government handouts and pork-barrel spending. We need to make our voices heard that WE WANT LESS – less taxes, less spending, and less bureaucracy.

Call or write your legislators and tell them to stop their reckless spending spree and lower our tax burden.
