FreedomWorks Salutes Governor Bush’s Veto of No-Fault Insurance

Last week Gov. Bush vetoed legislation that would have extended the sunset clause of ‘no-fault’ car insurance in Florida. FreedomWorks Florida salutes Gov. Bush for his stand against trial lawyers and higher insurance costs. ‘No-fault’ is a system open to rampant abuse by fraudulent claims that cause Florida residents to pay insurance premiums on average 19 percent higher than in states with personal responsibility requirements.

FreedomWorks Florida generated grassroots pressure against ‘no-fault’ through activist generated calls and letters to targeted legislators and Gov. Bush.
Florida FreedomWorks director John Hallman was told by an aid to Gov. Bush that FreedomWorks’ organized grassroots opposition was critical in stopping the legislation.

Florida FreedomWorks director John Hallman commented, “I applaud Gov. Bush for his veto of this bill that would have extended the abuse and fraud of this system for two more years, and I would like to especially thank all the Florida FreedomWorks members who took action to make this happen. This is a great example of what citizen grassroots activism can do.”

FreedomWorks is a grassroots organization with over 800,000 members nationwide and over 50,000 in Florida dedicated to lower taxes, less government, and more freedom.
