Spending, Debt Levels in ObamaCare Repeal Resolution Send a Terrible Message to Fiscal Conservatives

The Senate didn't waste any time when it convened at the beginning of the 115th Congress. The chamber moved quickly on a motion to proceed on the FY 2017 budget regulation, S.Con.Res. 3, which begins the process of repealing ObamaCare. The resolution directs two Senate committees -- Finance and Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions -- and two House committees -- Ways and Means and Energy and Commerce -- to begin work on repeal legislation through budget reconciliation.

Congress Should Pass Balanced Budget with ObamaCare Repeal

Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul recently raised eyebrows when, in a op-ed for Time, he wrote that he would vote against a budget resolution that includes instructions to repeal ObamaCare through reconciliation if it does not balance.

A Crucial Victory on the Road to Repealing ObamaCare

The House is set to send the president a bill repealing the majority of his signature health care law. While the president will certainly veto the bill, doing so merely underscores its implied promise: elect the right president in 2016, and ObamaCare's days are numbered.

The Senate Finally Keeps Its Promise on ObamaCare, and Some Amendment Highlights

Republican leadership seemed determined to fumble the ball on the reconciliation process, but in the end a pretty good ObamaCare repeal package has finally crossed the goal line in the Senate. The House will certainly pass it, and it will proceed to President Obama's desk, where he has promised to veto the legislation in spite of the overwhelming evidence that the law is fundamentally unsound.

FreedomWorks to Senate GOP Leaders: Put an Actual ObamaCare Repeal Bill on Obama’s Desk

The House of Representatives’ ObamaCare reconciliation bill doesn’t go far enough. The Senate now has the opportunity to improve upon it by sending legislation that fully repeals ObamaCare to the president’s desk. Unfortunately, some Senate Republicans are content to go along with the House’s timid piecemeal approach.

The House's ObamaCare Reconciliation Fail

Thanks to a newly minted Republican Senate majority and the budgetary tactic called reconciliation, it appeared that getting a full repeal of at least most of ObamaCare to the president’s desk was inevitable this year.
