Book Review: Rand Paul Makes The Case Against Socialism

BY Jason Pye

As self-proclaimed “democratic socialists” continue to rant and rave against capitalism, the need for principled, liberty-minded leaders is more imperative now than ever. Rather than being assailed from without by communist foreign powers, American liberalism — defined by its belief in the power of personal liberty and economic freedom – is being infiltrated from within.

These two amendments complement each other, ensuring that the reauthorization of the Victims Compensation Fund (VCF) is fiscally responsible and held accountable to its purpose.

Fair Sentencing Act Retroactivity: Addressing the Sentencing Disparity of Crack Cocaine vs. Powder Cocaine

College basketball star Len Bias died of a powder cocaine overdose while celebrating his number one draft pick in the 1986 NBA Draft. Because his death was widely, although mistakenly, thought to be due to a crack cocaine overdose, the public and the federal government responded alike -- with panic about the perceived heightened dangers of crack cocaine. This panic served to advance the national war on drugs that was already well underway.

Support the Penny Plan Balanced Budget, S.Con.Res. 36

On behalf of FreedomWorks activists nationwide, I urge you to contact your senators and ask them to support the Penny Plan Balanced Budget, S.Con.Res. 36, introduced by Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.). The budget would repeal the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018, utilize the penny plan for bringing federal spending under control, expand health savings accounts, and implement true budget process reform. Every one of these proposals is desperately needed when our country is staring down a debt-to-GDP ratio in 2028, in which debt held by the public nearly eclipses the size of the economy. This type of spending growth is unsustainable and the Penny Plan Balanced Budget proposes a way to rightsize the fiscal outlook of our country.
