Support the Federal Reserve Transparency Act, S. 148

On behalf of FreedomWorks’ activist community, I urge you to contact your senators and urge them to cosponsor the Federal Reserve Transparency Act, S. 148, if they haven’t already done so. Introduced by Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), the Federal Reserve Transparency Act would require a full audit of the Federal Reserve by the Government Accountability Office.

Support the Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act, S. 92

On behalf of FreedomWorks’ activist community, I urge you to contact your senators and urge them to cosponsor the Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act, S. 92, if they haven’t already done so. Introduced by Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), the REINS Act would reaffirm the legislative branch’s Article I authority by requiring that economically significant rules be approved through a joint resolution of Congress before they can take effect.

Fair Sentencing Act Retroactivity: Addressing the Sentencing Disparity of Crack Cocaine vs. Powder Cocaine

College basketball star Len Bias died of a powder cocaine overdose while celebrating his number one draft pick in the 1986 NBA Draft. Because his death was widely, although mistakenly, thought to be due to a crack cocaine overdose, the public and the federal government responded alike -- with panic about the perceived heightened dangers of crack cocaine. This panic served to advance the national war on drugs that was already well underway.

Support the Penny Plan Balanced Budget, S.Con.Res. 36

On behalf of FreedomWorks activists nationwide, I urge you to contact your senators and ask them to support the Penny Plan Balanced Budget, S.Con.Res. 36, introduced by Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.). The budget would repeal the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018, utilize the penny plan for bringing federal spending under control, expand health savings accounts, and implement true budget process reform. Every one of these proposals is desperately needed when our country is staring down a debt-to-GDP ratio in 2028, in which debt held by the public nearly eclipses the size of the economy. This type of spending growth is unsustainable and the Penny Plan Balanced Budget proposes a way to rightsize the fiscal outlook of our country.

It's Crunch Time in the Senate on the Tax Reform Budget Resolution

Coming off a week-long recess and without any significant legislative victories this year, the pressure is on the Senate this week to pass the FY 2018 budget resolution, S.Con.Res. 25, which provides reconciliation instructions for fundamental tax reform. The House passed its own version of the FY 2018 budget, H.Con.Res. 71, on October 5 by a vote of 219 to 206.

Do Not Let Janet Yellen Turn the Federal Reserve Into a Safe Space

Over the past several years, there has been a move to make college campuses an ideological bubble where only preferred and pre-approved perspectives are allowed, known as “safe spaces.” It seems this line of thinking is not only on college campuses as some of our politicians have been calling for that as well. Most recently, Chairwoman of the Federal Reserve Janet Yellen openly suggested turning the Federal Reserve into a safe space.
