VIDEO: FreePAC Blogger Press Conference With Senators And Candidates

One of the privileges afforded the writers on Bloggers Row at FreePAC on July 26 was the opportunity to attend a "press gaggle" after the event. We had the opportunity to head down to the arena's catacombs for press availability with Sen. Jim DeMint, Sen. Mike Lee, Sen. Rand Paul, Senate Candidate Ted Cruz from Texas and Senate Candidate Richard Mourdock from Indiana. Here is the video of that event. (Technical note - please excuse the audio difficulties. There was a ton of background noise and this was taken on my cell phone.)Highlights include:

Demand Harry Reid Bring Audit the Fed Bill to a Vote in the Senate

Great news: Ron Paul's Audit the Fed bill passed the House!  But this is where the hard work really begins. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) has introduced a bill identical to H.R. 459 in the Senate. It's S. 202, the Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2011. Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) vows not to put Audit the Fed to a vote in the Senate.

Real Conservative Senators Should Vote For Senator Rand Paul's Budget

The Senate is expected to vote on four competing budget plans introduced by Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA), Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT), and Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) today. Passing an annual budget for the federal government is a fundamental responsibility of Congress. Yet under Harry Reid’s leadership, the Senate has not passed a budget in over three years and no Democrats in the Senate have even offered a budget proposal this year.

Senator Rand Paul’s Budget Plan is Still the Best

Rep. Paul Ryan, the Republican Chairman of the House Budget Committee, has released his new budget plan called The Path to Prosperity: A Blueprint for American Renewal. His plan does contain some praiseworthy proposals such as cutting the corporate tax rate, repealing ObamaCare and ending forms of corporate welfare. However, it does not cut a single federal department and doesn’t balance the budget until 2040.
