Bill's Not Just a Bill. And He's Not Just Sitting Here on Capitol Hill.

As the "drop dead date" for Obama administration regulations draws near, we are expecting a flood of "midnight regulations." With Seven-Day Extension, Obama Midnight is Dark and Full of Regulatory Terrors

The "drop dead date" for federal regulations is fast approaching and we are expecting more overreaching proposals. This is the last date that proposed rules can be finalized by the Obama administration, without fear that the next President will overturn them under the Congressional Review Act. Regulatory agencies are expected to release a flood of regulations before this date. This regulatory outburst, first noted in the final days of the Carter Administration, is known as "midnight regulations."

Happy New Year! Five Ways the Government Is Already On Your Case in 2014

There are but hours left in 2013, which a full two thirds of Americans described as the "worst year ever." Actually, I'm not sure of that exact number, but I was among the ones that did. Thanks, Obamacare! Anyway, lest you think you're leaving all of the bad stuff behind while you're celebrating the end of the year with stuffed lobster, champagne and terrible decisions, the government has already started in on making your life miserable in 2014. And ready or not, as of midnight, here it comes. 1. The Obamacare Insurance Tax

Govt to Kill 3,600 Owls to Save Other Owls

The federal government is upset that spotted owls are disappearing. So they’re going to kill 3,600 barred owls to even the score. The Pacific Northwest has been dealing with the caprices of government for decades when it comes to the northern spotted owl. Twenty-three years ago, environmentalists noticed that the population of the birds was decreasing faster than they liked. The owl-huggers successfully lobbied the federal government to list the bird as an endangered species and drastically reduced the logging they had blamed for the owl’s predicament. Problem solved!

Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Big Gulps

Earlier today, the First Department of New York State's Appellate Division upheld a ruling that struck down Mayor Bloomberg's controversial portion cap rule or "soda ban." Don't Sweat Health Care, California's Got This

Implementing Obamacare is a train wreck nationally, but in California it's a high-speed rail disaster. In the past few weeks we learned that health insurance giants UnitedHealth, Cigna and Aetna will opt out of California's health care exchanges. Austin Bag Ban: Building a Foundation for Tyranny

Austin Texas, whose claim to fame is its prolific “weirdness”, has undertaken a new effort to catapult their “weirdness” to new and unimaginable heights. While liberal mayors and governors across the nation have been busy waging war on guns, profit, and families, the liberal Austin City Council has been lamenting their unfortunate location within the red state of Texas, desperately searching for something to ban.
