 Rove Lectures Republicans to cut Spending

 Karl Rove in the Wall Street Journal states what Americans want of government:

 Americans clearly want the new Congress to focus on economic growth and creating jobs in the private sector. Real spending reductions, an extension of the Bush tax cuts, ending earmarks, using the returns from the bailouts to reduce the debt, and turning Fannie and Freddie into private companies should all be at the top of the GOP’s agenda.

 Indiscernibly, Rove is stating that Americans want government to respect and reinstate personal freedom.  Generally, Americans realize that all government spending involves taxing and confiscating money from working Americans.  And, government debt is a tax on tomorrow’s workers. Notably, all taxes are autocratically  imposed and coercively collected by government.  Finally, many Americans are aware that when government spends beyond protecting people and their property personal freedom contracts.

Yes, Americans want spending reductions and tax cuts.  Explicitly, Amercians want to keep and use the gains earned from their intellect and labor.  Indispensable for personal freedom is the liberty for each person to choose how to allocate and invest their time, labor and money, and to own the gains made by these investments.  These principles were stated by George Mason in the Virginia Declaration of Rights: “…certain inherent rights, namely, the enjoyment of life and liberty, with the means of acquiring and possessing property, and pursuing and obtaining happiness and safety.”

Only an informed and active citizenry can restore and extended personal freedom.  Thomas Jefferson recognized the power of the ctizens:  “What country can preserve its liberties if its rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance?”

The last three election cycles have certainly warned the rulers.  Have they listened?  Only a few.

Only a strong and forceful continuation of the outrage by the independent and Tea Party voter can force the politicians to reduce government spending and restore personal freedom.
