Hey Senate GOP: Want Grassroots Conservative Support? Confirm Trump's Nominees

To say it’s been a frustrating year for conservatives would be a vast understatement. After running for years on promises of a full repeal of Obamacare and winning elections in a sweeping and historic victory, Republicans couldn’t even manage to pass the repeal they passed months before under former President Barack Obama.

It's Crunch Time in the Senate on the Tax Reform Budget Resolution

Coming off a week-long recess and without any significant legislative victories this year, the pressure is on the Senate this week to pass the FY 2018 budget resolution, S.Con.Res. 25, which provides reconciliation instructions for fundamental tax reform. The House passed its own version of the FY 2018 budget, H.Con.Res. 71, on October 5 by a vote of 219 to 206.

Senate, Having Done Virtually Nothing All Year, Is On Vacation Again

It's October, roughly 10 months into the 115th Congress. Apart from the confirmation of Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court, as well as the confirmations of administration posts, what exactly has the Senate done this year?

ObamaCare Repeal: Now Is the Time for Senate Republicans to Deliver

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has indicated that he will bring an ObamaCare repeal bill to the floor early next week for a motion to proceed. For those not familiar with a motion to proceed, it's a procedural vote that allows the Senate to consider a piece of legislation on the floor.

Conservatives Sound Alarm About Senate Health Bill

[...] Outside conservative groups, fearing that Senate GOP leaders are watering down the House bill’s Medicaid savings and rollback of ACA regulations, have meanwhile begun speaking out more forcefully in recent days. “Everything we’re hearing right now is frustrating and concerning to us,” said Jason Pye, director of public policy at FreedomWorks, a grass-roots-oriented conservative group.

Build a Better Bill: GOP Senate Must Save ObamaCare Repeal Once Again

It’s no secret that my organization, FreedomWorks, had serious concerns with the American Health Care Act. The amendment negotiated by Rep. Tom MacArthur (R-N.J.) and Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) to allow states to define their own community rating and essential health benefits was a step in the right direction, but further improvements must be made as the bill works its way through the Senate. As Meadows said during the House debate over the AHCA, “The American people are going to care about one thing, and that’s premiums going down.”

The Email Privacy Act Passes in House, Next Stop: Senate

Two years after the Email Privacy Act (H.R. 387) was first introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives, it was revisited Monday, Febuary 6th, and passed unanimously. This is a huge victory for proponents of digital privacy, but the fight is not over quite yet. Now that is has been passed in the House, it will need to be passed by the Senate before Americans’ right to email privacy can finally be updated for the 21st century.
