FreedomWorks Launches “DiverseTea.com” To Combat Accusations of Racism

Washington, DC- Today, FreedomWorks is proud to launch the website and advertising campaign “Diverse Tea” in response to the false allegations of racism and lack of diversity in the tea party movement. The purpose of the campaign is to create a platform for people of all ages, races, and walks of life to discuss their involvement in the movement and why they value the principles of fiscal responsibility and individual liberty.

“If you actually take the time to get to know the people in the Tea Party movement, you see an amazing amount of diversity- not just different skin colors but people literally from all walks of life that have united around the idea that the government is too big and is spending too much money it doesn’t have,” commented Matt Kibbe, President and CEO of FreedomWorks.

Freedomworks invites every freedom-loving American to unite under the cause of liberty by joining the tea party movement, regardless of the color of their skin. The website, www.DiverseTea.com, provides opportunities for people to share their story, sponsor a Diverse Tea newspaper ad, and meet the many faces of the tea party movement.

According to the newspaper ad:

We are First and Foremost Americans. We have voluntarily stood up — United with one voice under the banner of the Tea Party — because of wrong-headed government policies that are bankrupting our great Nation, threatening the futures of our children and grandchildren. We say it is time for the people to take politics back from the politicians. We will Take America Back, not from Democrats or Republicans, but from an arrogant political class that puts its interests before those of all Americans.

“THE SLAVERY OF TYRANNY”

Among those disappointed by the recent attacks made on the limited government movement is the Reverend C.L. Bryant, a former NAACP Chapter President, self-proclaimed Democrat radical turned Conservative, and star of the FreedomWorks-sponsored documentary film “Runaway Slave.”

The documentary film follows Rev. C.L. Bryant as he traces the footsteps of runaway slaves through the Underground Railroad. From the slave ports of New Orleans to Chicago’s Cabrini Green to Martin Luther King’s birthplace in Atlanta, the film explores how 95 percent support of the Democratic Party has negatively affected the Black community.

“This film was made to reveal the truth behind a 50-year-old lie that has caused an entire people to become slaves to one political idea and party,” said Rev. Bryant. “It looks to dispel the notion that government knows best, and is intended to create a mindset that can free all people and instill a sense of individualism regardless of their color.”

Rev. Bryant recently introduced the movie trailer to an audience of more than 2,500 supporters at the FreedomWorks 8/27 Take America Back Convention in Washington, DC.

“Runaway Slave is a powerful explanation of how the values of individual liberty, fiscal responsibility and limited government benefit all people, not any one segment of society,” added Kibbe. “The film is for anyone interested in learning why government is almost always the problem, not the solution.”
