Tom Price’s Second No Lame Duck Privileged Resolution to Be Voted On Next Week

Today, Congressman Tom Price (R-GA) offered another no lame duck privileged resolution on the House floor. According to Tom Price,

Over the last two years, Americans have clearly voiced their opposition to Speaker Pelosi’s job-killing, liberal agenda. So far the Democrat majority has refused to listen, but I’m giving them one more chance to do the right thing and abandon their plans for a Lame Duck blitz.  Defeated or retiring members of Congress should not be voting on major public policy except in the case of an unforeseen national emergency.  It’s a common sense idea that members of both parties should be able to get behind.

If passed, the House will not hold a post-election Lame Duck Session unless an unforeseen emergency happened. The legislation clearly outlines that consideration of any of the following is not an emergency:

 (1) Card check, including H.R. 1409 (111th).

(2) A national energy tax, including H.R. 2454 (111th).

(3) Any legislation that would provide more authority to Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac.

(4) Any legislation pertaining to the Immigration and Nationality Act.

(5) Any legislation making regular appropriations for fiscal year 2011 that would be an increase over previous funding levels.

(6) Any legislation increasing any tax on any American.

The full text of the resolution can be found here. The Price resolution is likely to be voted on next week. Be sure to contact your representatives and tell them to vote for Price’s resolution to ensure that the voice of the American people is heard!
