Representative Thomas Massie Endorses “The New Fair Deal”

Washington, DC- Congressman Thomas Massie (KY-4) endorsed The New Fair Deal today, a grassroots effort to work with Members of Congress who are serious about getting the debt under control and ending big government’s collusion with big business.

The legislation stems from four main pillars, each addressing major concerns of grassroots activists across the country, including: ending corporate handouts, crafting a flatter tax code, passing real spending reform, and empowering individuals with the choice to opt out of government-run entitlement programs.

Rep. Massie commented, “The New Fair Deal is based on fundamental American principles that people from all backgrounds and ideologies can get behind – empowering individuals, taxing fairly, cutting corporate welfare, and reeling in overspending.”

“The most impressive aspect of The New Fair Deal is the decentralized way it came about. Congressmen drafted legislation based on input from tens of thousands of everyday individuals, people who believe that their elected officials are accountable to voters, not to a party or donor. This is how our Republic is supposed to work. It’s supposed to be about representing individuals, not being beholden to power players inside the Beltway. I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to pass this common sense legislation.”

Specifics of The New Fair Deal legislation were released with about 300 grassroots activists from across the nation at The New Fair Deal Action Day last April 15th in Washington, DC. Following the event, activists descended on Capitol Hill to urge their Representatives to support the legislative agenda.
