FreedomWorks Responds to the 2014 State of the Union

Washington, DC- Following the conclusion of President Obama’s 2014 State of the Union address, FreedomWorks President Matt Kibbe released the following statement in response:

“For one of the longer State of the Union addresses in U.S. history, I am disappointed at how few practical –and constitutional- reform solutions the President actually proposed. Under the Obama Administration’s policies, about 10.4 million Americans are unemployed. At least 4.7 million Americans have already lost their individual insurance because of ObamaCare, while Big Insurance’s bailout in the first ten years of ObamaCare threatens to stick them with an extra trillion-dollar bill to pay. The solution to these problems is not another Executive Order. The solution is for the Executive to get out of the way, and allow citizens the freedom to pursue the opportunity to succeed.”

“If the President made one thing clear tonight, it is this: It’s his way or the highway. The President proposed almost a baker’s dozen of executive orders- a complete dismissal of the American system of checks and balances. Frustration with policy disagreements does not warrant an impatient president to behave like a king. Congress must push back against the Obama’s attempts at unilateral action, because the process matters as much as the policy itself.”
