The election might be over, but politics isn’t. As a lame-duck president, Barack Obama will use his remaining days in office to push any outstanding policy proposals, either through Congress, also now a lame duck, or by executive order.
FreedomWorks today called on House Republican leaders to pass a clean, short-term continuing resolution to keep the federal government funded through early 2017. The current continuing resolution is set to expire on December 9 while Congress is in a lame-duck session.
In 1912, the Progressive agenda had a few very important victories. Two Amendments to the Constitution were ratified – the federal income tax and the popular election of Senators. Both Amendments would ultimately expand the power and reach of the federal government and reduce the checks and balances embodied in the Constitution and Bill of Rights.
